This is one of the results of a research team that researched the impact of <a href="http://www.sleepdeprivationeffectshq.com/symptoms-of-sleep-deprivation/" target='_blank'>sleep problems in adults</a> and how it can be connected with cases of sleepwalking.</p>
<p>April 1, 2008, Montreal &#8211; If you&#8217;d like sleepwalkers to roll around the whole night, deprive them of sleep. It may seem funny, but a Canadian analysis of 40 sleepwalkers indicates that when sleep-deprived, people have a greater tendency to sleepwalk.</p>
<p>Based to University of Montreal&rsquo;s Dr. Antonio Zadra and his colleagues, the research supports recommendations for sleepwalkers to &ldquo;keep a regular sleep cycle and avoid <a href="http://www.sleepdeprivationeffectshq.com/" target='_blank'>sleep deprivation symptom</a>.&rdquo;</p>
<p>While sleep may seem like a steady state, it actually consists of 5 stages that cycle all over the night. There are certainly 5 stages of sleep including the REM (rapid eye movement) stage. A complete sleep cycle takes about 90 to 100 minutes and a regular sleep consists of 4 to 5 complete sleep cycles. </p>
<p>In Zadra&rsquo;s research, sleepwalkers spent a night at a laboratory where they were videotaped. Experts observed their actions while they were asleep. Most sleepwalkers don&rsquo;t actually sleepwalk each night. </p>
<p>The experts discovered that most of the volunteers in the analysis had actually sleepwalked. A lot of them did so more than once that night, for a total of 32 sleepwalking episodes. On the following day, the volunteers were kept awake for 25 hours straight to find out how sleep deprivation would impacts the sleepwalkers.</p>
<p>When they went to bed in the morning, they were all tired and were trying to get sleep at an uncommon time. The experts noted that after staying awake for 25 hours, the volunteers revealed many various sleeping habits compare to the night before. Throughout their catch-up sleep period, 36 people sleepwalked for a total of 92 sleepwalking episodes.</p>
<p>This result introduced by Zadra and his colleagues to conclude that sleep deprivation may inspire sleepwalking in sleepwalkers. The results may help in diagnosing and curing people for sleepwalking.</p>
<p>While this analysis did not include a comparison group of those who have never sleepwalked, in the past work of Zadra&rsquo;s team, however, they found out that healthy people with no history of sleepwalking weren&#8217;t more likely to sleepwalk when sleep deprived.</p>

But there are also moments when you can&#8217;t get yourself to sleep and you do not know the reason why.  Still, there are moments that you find so sleepy and your eyes are truly worn out and sore and, yet, you just can&#8217;t seem to get yourself to sleep.  You keep tossing in bed, ruffling your pillows but sleep stays tough and you wonder what is really happening to you.  And just as when the sun is already shining and you&#8217;re supposed to be getting up to begin your day, all of a sudden, you fall asleep.  </p>
<p>Sleeping disorders &#8211; This is the inability to drift off to sleep, or the disturbance of sleep patterns, just like getting up after a few hours of sleep and it could be <a href="http://www.sleepdeprivationeffectshq.com/" target='_blank'>sleep problems in adults</a>.   </p>
<p>Many people have the incorrect notion that our mind and body is in a peaceful state when we&#8217;re asleep.  On the other hand, it is a state of mindset or dynamic exercise which gives our body time to rest and build up durability while the brains continue to work.  </p>
<p>Sleep has 5 phases.  During the 1st level, nap is light and can be easily woke up.  During this period, the eyes progress very slowly as well as muscle movement.  Oftentimes, when a person is woke up, sudden muscle contractions occur as if you are falling off.  At level 2, eye movement&rsquo;s stop and brain waves act slower with intermittent burst of rapid waves known as &ldquo;sleep spindles&rdquo;. In level 3, delta waves begin to appear.  These are extremely slow brain waves interspersed with smaller, faster waves.  During level 4, only delta waves are being established by the brain.  You will have a hard time waking up anyone whose sleep is already at stages 3 or 4 or in deep sleep where there is no more eye movement or muscle activity.  People who are aroused during deep sleep experience temporary disorientation.  It is also during deep sleep level that children experience bed wetting, night terrors, or sleepwalking.</p>
<p>REM sleep is the final level where breathing becomes faster, shallow and irregular.  The eyes jerk rapidly in various directions with the limb muscles getting paralyzed for a short time.  During this level, the heart rate enhances, blood pressure rises, and penile erections occur among men.  Dreams are suffered during REM sleep level.</p>
<p>These stages repeat in a cycle.  A complete sleep routine takes about 90 to 110 minutes on average.  The initial sleep routine each night is classified by short REM periods and long periods of deep sleep.  But as the night goes by, REM sleep periods become longer while deep sleep periods get shorter.  The next day, people spend their sleep time in stages 1, 2, and REM sleep stages.  Base to analysis, we spend 50% of our sleep time in level 2 sleep, about 20% in REM sleep, and 30% in other sleep stages.  In comparison, infants spend half of their sleep time in REM sleep.
