There is nothing more desirable in my point of view than being pregnant. Enjoying the baby and raising the child is fun and terrific but the feelings that come with pregnancy are just so powerful. The eager expectation, the excitement, the love and the unknowing can all be so miraculous.
I think one of my favorite things to do while on maternity is getting the nursery ready. It permits me to remain busy so the concern of waiting doesn't overcome me. It also helps me to get closer and start creating a relationship with my infant. Finally it even helps my husband and I to get closer as we make a choice of the various products, colors and designs that we put in there.
When I start developing the nursery I regularly start with the bigger items very first. My husband and I put the crib together and place that situated in a corner. Afterward we put together the dresser which goes near the crib and then the rocking chair or reclining chair which I try and place next to a window.
The moment the larger items are taken care of I start finding extras that I want in there. Usually I try to find bedsheets, a mobile, a changer for on top of the dresser and things to hang up on the wall.
The last thing I hunt for is a nursery lamp. nursery lamps are so important for late night feedings. They offer plenty of lighting to nurse or bottle-feed but not so much light that it will keep your child awake. Normally I make an effort to get a lamp that can stay with them for a while. My boy has a blue lamp with motorcycles and cars and my little girls both have pink lamps one with butterflies and the other with a ballerina and they love their pink lamps.
The most important thing to keep in mind with your nursery is to ensure that it is a calm and comforting area for you and your newborn.
