Choose a Sleeping Routine.
One of the best ways to get the body to sleep is by forming a habit of going to bed at
approximately the same time each night. If you decide to sleep at eleven at night, do the same for the other days. This will make the body get used to the time and with time you will not have to struggle falling asleep.
Maintain Proper Silence and Good Lighting.
When it comes to sleeping time, you will need as much silence as possible. However, with the TV and the radio on and other family members making noise in the background, it can be hard to maintain silence. If it is not possible to get them to reduce the noise, then consider using noise reducing headphones. Some people find it hard to sleep even with minimal amount of light. If the curtains filter in allows more light, change the curtains to a much darker color or use eye masks.
The Level of Physical Comfort.
This will depend on the bed and the mattress. If any of these two items are not in good shape, you will have trouble falling asleep regardless of how sleepy you are. So you need to buy quality a bed and mattress. A bad quality or old mattress will not only prevent you from sleeping; it can also lead to body aches further worsening your sleep difficulties.
The Perfect Room Temperature.
Rooms that are either too hot or cold are not ideal for sleeping. Most people tend to be more restless or wake up in the middle of the night in rooms that are too cold or warm. For good and restful sleep, make sure to keep the room slightly cool. As it has always been said practice makes perfect. If you develop a habit of practicing the above steps you will not have trouble sleeping.

I Cannot sleep/wake up?
All in all i dont have trouble falling and staying that way, i cant sleep or wake up. Im always tired, I get weak fast, and i think its making me sick. I cant be sick and watch these kids so im really hoping someone can help me.

Hey Noel, great post. Following on from your point about establishing a sleep routine, I actually use a slightly different technique. Rather than going to bed at the same time each night, I take the opposite approach and get up at the same time every morning. Then in the evenings I make sure I go to bed as soon as I start to feel tired. Because my body knows what time I get up, it’s able to tell me when I should be going to bed. As a result, my bed time fluctuates, but I always find that I wake up feeling fully refreshed.

I’ve never heard of Melatrol but I have been having some problems sleeping for awhile now. I’m tired when I go to bed, I don’t watch TV in the room, we keep it dark and the temperature setting is pre-programmed. I’ve been wondering if it’s my mattress. I might try sleeping in our guest bed to check that out but if it doesn’t work, I’m all for trying something that will help me adjust. Thanks for the info!
